Goddesses are female deities representing power, nature, and the many dimensions of human experience. Among them, Chamunda is one of the fiercest and most unsettling forms of the Great Goddess.According to the Devī Māhātmya, she emerges during a battle against the demons Chanda and Munda. After defeating them, she receives the name Chamunda. Emaciated and adorned with skulls, she confronts us with everything we often try to keep at a distance: death, decay, fear, and the parts of life that cannot be controlled or made beautiful.Yet Chamunda’s darkness is not darkness for its own sake. She represents the fierce power that destroys ignorance and reveals what we would rather not see. Her unsettling form reminds us that transformation does not happen by turning away from what frightens us, but by finding the courage to face it.We live in a culture that often asks us to hide aging, grief, uncertainty, and discomfort. Chamunda invites us to meet these realities without looking away. When we stop resisting the darker aspects of life, they no longer hold the same power over us. What first appears frightening can become a doorway to clarity, liberation, and profound inner strength. This special Jivanmukti practice explores the courage to face the unknown, move through fear, and embrace every part of our human experience. Expect a strong, transformative practice that invites us to encounter intensity with presence rather than resistance.* Strong Jivanmukti asana practice* Breath as an anchor through fear, uncertainty, and change* Mantra and live harmonium to invoke the fierce and liberating energy of ChamundaGuided by Émeline and Zorana, this class is part of a special series dedicated to the empowering qualities of the goddesses. Together, they invite you to explore the wisdom of the Goddess, not as mythology alone, but as a living force that can inspire and empower our everyday lives.Inspired by Chamunda, we explore what becomes possible when we stop turning away from what frightens us and meet the whole of life with courage.Chamunda reminds us: what we dare to face can no longer rule us from the shadows.
