Is the cold, wet and darkness of Autumn messing with you? Learn special yoga and Ayurveda practices to keep your body, mind and soul warm and glowing! This is an all-levels class that will teach a bit of Ayurveda theory and practical tips for managing the long, slow descent into “the winter dark” of the Pacific Northwest. We’ll go beyond the impulse to curl up under the covers, and explore ways to embrace the season through foods for health and immunity, nourishing lifestyle practices, and gentle grounding yoga. This workshop is directed towards yoga practitioners of all levels who are already feeling the heaviness of Autumn, and curious about how Ayurveda can help them restore health and happiness to their body, mind and soul. Associated with “Vāta Dosha”, the qualities of cold, dry, mobile, subtle and windy, Autumn often brings changes in mood and mental health, digestion, energy levels, joints, sleep, skin issues and overall immunity. Those who come with open mind will find a fascinating and transformative “Science of Life” that can be applied in numerous ways for thriving throughout the dark seasons. Students should understand that Ayurveda is complementary medicine, and not intended to surpass or replace allopathic healthcare. All knowledge will be presented as Educational, rather than as Medical Diagnosis & Treatment.
