Good to know
200 hoursThe usual first teacher training: 200 hours covering practice, anatomy, philosophy and how to teach.
Most studios expect 200 hours as the starting point to teach a public class. You can do it in one intensive block of three to four weeks, or spread over weekends for several months.
Daily practice, technique, anatomy, philosophy, teaching method and practice teaching with feedback. Part of the hours can be reading and homework rather than time in the room.
Good if
- You want to teach, or to understand your own practice from the inside
- You can give it a block of weeks, or steady weekends
Heads up
- An intensive block is a lot to take in, so plan some rest after it
- Ask how many hours are with the facilitators in the room, and who teaches anatomy
- Ask what the whole cost includes: room, meals, books and the certificate
