Pilates for experienced practitioners

Nearly all the classes in Antwerp are Pilates, and most of them are for people who already have some experience. Pilates Works offers a Tower class for practitioners with at least a year of work on the Tower, and a Mat Open Level class for those with a year in the method. Even the classes that are gentle or focused on the core keep to this experienced level.

The mat classes are the most common style on this page, appearing in about a third of the classes. They can be taken on their own, and they are the usual way to build the control that the apparatus work asks for.

When the classes take place

Mornings are the busiest time, and about half of the classes start in the morning. Midday and evening each have about a fifth of the classes, and weekend classes are rare, at about one in ten. The busiest start times are 10am, noon, 6pm and 8:15pm, and the latest class starts at 8:15pm.

Wednesday, Friday and Thursday are the busiest days, so these are the days to look for the widest choice of classes.

Where to practice

Pilates Works, in the Schipperskwartier, runs the most classes on this page and is the studio where the Tower and Mat Open Level classes are held. De pilatesklas also offers classes. Ann Van Huffel and Evy Goossens lead the most classes here, and the Schipperskwartier is the neighborhood where practice gathers.

If you are new to the method, check the level stated for each class before you book, since most of these classes assume prior work.
