Questions and answers

How quickly will I hear back?

Within one working day, and a person reads every request. You get what Namaspot can bring to your piece: a first look at the numbers, a few people worth calling, or a question if something needs clearing up.

On deadline? Choose Today in the form and leave a phone number. Those requests go to the front of the line, and sometimes the call back comes while you are still writing.

What if I don't have a story yet?

Then this is a good moment to write. Many pieces start as a hunch: everyone you know seems to have switched to Pilates, or the 7am classes feel fuller than they used to.

Tell Namaspot what you cover and where, and three angles come back, each with the numbers that could carry it. If nothing fits today, you will hear back when something does.

Can you connect me with people from your community?

Behind every class is a person: the facilitator who unlocks the studio at 6:30, the owner who has watched a neighborhood change around her, the teacher who spends every winter leading trainings in Rishikesh.

Tell Namaspot who you would like to meet, and Namaspot asks around in your city. You get a short list of the people who said yes, with a line on each. Everyone you meet chose to be there.

Where do the numbers come from?

From the timetables studios share with the world, the same ones their students check before heading out the door. Every day, Namaspot reads them for more than 24,000 yoga, Pilates and meditation studios.

Each class carries a few small details: when it begins, what it teaches, who leads it, the language and, where the studio shares it, how many places are left. One class says little. Thousands of them, day after day, tell you how a place practices.

Which places can I ask about?

Two kinds, because people practice in two ways. Cities are where practice is part of the week, from London and New York to São Paulo, Seoul and Cape Town, seen neighborhood by neighborhood.

Havens are where people travel to practice: Rishikesh, Tulum, Ubud, Ibiza, Byron Bay. There the story is the season, when retreats and trainings gather and when everything goes quiet again. Ask about one place, several side by side, or the whole map.

Can I use the numbers in my piece?

Yes. Quote them, chart them and compare them, with a credit to Namaspot. Each figure comes with a short note on how it was counted and what it leaves out, so your editor knows exactly what they are looking at.

Everything is about a place, never a single studio or person. If you want to name one, Namaspot can introduce you, and they decide for themselves.

Can I write in my own language?

Please do. Studios on Namaspot teach in dozens of languages, from Portuguese in São Paulo to Japanese in Tokyo, and your request can arrive in yours too.

The reply comes in the language you wrote in, and the numbers can be shaped for your readers: local neighborhoods, local holidays, local habits.

Can someone from Namaspot join my show or podcast?

Yes, for TV, radio, podcasts and video. A guest can talk about how cities practice, what is changing and why, with numbers ready to put on screen.

Short notice is fine. Choose Today in the form and leave a phone number. If you need a studio to film in, Namaspot can help find one that is happy to open its doors to a camera.

Can I hear about stories before they happen?

Yes. The yoga calendar on this page shows the moments practice tends to make the news, from the January rush to International Yoga Day. Ask about three weeks ahead and the numbers will be ready.

Or leave your name with "Just to keep in touch" in the form, and Namaspot writes when something fits your beat. Only then, and never a newsletter.

Where can I get logos and pictures?

Write to press@namaspot.com and say what you need: the logo in any size, light or dark, or pictures for your piece.

The logo is written in lowercase. In text, the name is Namaspot, with a capital N.

About namaspot

namaspot shows yoga, Pilates, meditation and breathwork classes in 81 cities and 88 havens across 48 countries, so you can find one near you, see who leads it and book with the studio.

To do that, namaspot reads the timetables that more than 24,000 studios publish, every day: when each class starts, what it teaches, who leads it, the language it is taught in and, where the studio shares it, how many places are left. Day after day, those small details add up to a portrait of how a place practices, how it changes through the year, and how it compares with the rest of the world.

Everything namaspot shares is about a place, never a single studio or person, and every number comes with a line on how it was counted.
