In Practice Yoga Austin’s words

What is Yoga all the time? How can Yoga be spiritual? Isn't Yoga for my body... what is Yoga philosophy? How does Yoga care about my suffering? Why is my mind chaotic? Patañjali’s Yogasūtra is the foundational text of Yoga. It presents Yoga as a psychological practice to address suffering and facilitate transformation of identity. Postures and engaging with your breath are a sliver, really tools of preparation, of what this time-tested tradition has to offer. Begin 2027 with powerful studies, insightful discussions, and a richer Yoga practice that spreads into your life off the mat. Siara will step with you through the structure of Yoga philosophy so you can understand why Yoga cares about your everyday life, integration of mind, and moving toward still, quiet vitality. This course does not cover every piece of the text, but will focus on aspects instrumental for students brand new and well familiar with Yogasūtra. We will cover more detail and nuance than what is offered in 200 or 300 hour core curriculums. We will discuss areas of the text that present: • Definition of Yoga (from a psychological approach) • Definition of Mind • How to do Yoga • The results of Yoga • Our obstacles and Yoga's solutions • Yoga in all action • Establishing and developing a psychological practice Siara likes to say, the mat is a "low stakes environment" for identifying behavioral patterns that cause you problems and practicing how to choose different actions that instead facilitate qualities like ease, vitality, presence, love, trust, respect, fulfillment. The practices you do on the mat (Haṭha Yoga) are intended to be practices for how you perceive and make choices in your everyday life (Raja Yoga). In the Viniyoga tradition, Siara has studied Patañjali’s Yogasūtra with her teacher - Chase Bossart, student of TKV Deśikachar - several times and continues with weekly, in-depth classes on this text and the Bhagavad Gītā. She teaches Yoga philosophy in group and 1:1 settings with the aim
