Levels · O = Absolute Beginner · A = Beginner with previous experience · A+ = Advanced Beginner · B = Intermediate · C = Advanced Modern Flamenco is a unique fusion of traditional flamenco and contemporary modern dance. Combining elements of Flamenco, Horton, and Graham Technique, this class develops rhythmic precision, expressive movement, and strong technical foundations. The class emphasizes musicality by encouraging dancers to listen and respond with the entire body. Rhythm is experienced through the feet, hands, torso, breath, and movement, allowing dancers to explore different ways of interpreting music while learning to dance confidently in a variety of time signatures (compás). Each class begins with an expressive warm-up and continues with across-the-floor exercises, centre work, and choreographic sequences. Fundamental flamenco techniques—including floreo (ornamental hand movements), braceo(arm carriage), and marcaje (marking steps)—are taught alongside essential principles of modern dance such as opposition, spirals, weight shifts, and contraction and release. Particular emphasis is placed on coordination, rhythmic footwork, musical interpretation, proper alignment, and artistic expression. By combining the power and precision of flamenco with the freedom and dynamics of modern dance, dancers develop greater versatility, body awareness, and expressive movement quality. This class is suitable for dancers from Advanced Beginner (A+) to Intermediate (B) as well as more experienced dancers who wish to expand their movement vocabulary and explore the creative possibilities of both dance forms. Recommended Attire · Leotard or fitted tank top · Knee-length (or longer) skirt · Tights (optional) · Character shoes or flamenco/folk dance shoes For the first trial classes, jazz shoes or clean sneakers are perfectly suitable.
