What the classes are built around

Most of the timetable is reformer Pilates, and nearly every class is built around the machine. Core and pelvic floor work runs through almost all of them, and about a third of classes put a clear focus on balance or flexibility. Dynamic Reformer 1, 2 and 3 are the full body, dynamic line, with each level asking for more strength and technical ability. Reformer Essentials is the starting point for people new to the machine.

A smaller group of classes is led by physiotherapists. Osteo-Strong Reformer, Pelvic Health Reformer, The Running Method and Running Recovery all draw on that background, with a focus on safe, progressive loading and recovery rather than intensity alone.

How the week runs

Classes are spread across the day, and more than half start in the morning. The busiest start times are 8:30am, 9:30am, 10:30am and 11:30am, and the studio runs classes as early as 6:30am. Evenings make up about a third of the week, with the latest class starting at 8:15pm. Thursday, Wednesday and Tuesday are the busiest days, and weekend classes are few.

Classes usually run for 50 minutes, with a few physio-led sessions at 45 minutes. A couple of dozen facilitators teach across the timetable, and Elaine Tipple, Sarah Kelly and Camila Calixto lead the most classes.
