Sangha Day Festival
Practice with people who feel like community.
In The Brighton Buddhist Centre’s words
(With GfR and prostration practice for Order Members and GfR Mitras at 9.30am) Doors open 10.30am for an 11am prompt start in the Top Shrine room Shrine Room activities conclude at 4pm for tidying and departure at 4.30pm A traditional feature of Sangha Day is the precious opportunity for Mitras to reaffirm their commitment to the three jewels in the context of puja. We will start the day with puja, Mitra reaffirmations and meditations in the morning. (Please bring the 3 traditional offerings with you, a flower, a candle and incense, if you are coming to reaffirm. But if you leave without them or forget, we can help with that). Then we will have lunch with your offerings of food laid out on the table for us to share together. We will have the reception area, library, and the yoga studio available for us to eat, hang out and engage in friendship during the break. The Garden Shrine room will be designated as a quiet space throughout the lunchbreak. In the afternoon we will be treated to a range of presentations and stories from across the Sangha. This is our day to gather together in large numbers as Sangha and experience friendship and being part of this community. We express our commitment to the health of the Sangha with ritual, devotion, Dharma and the sharing of food. Bringing offerings for the puja, food for the table and donations for the dana bowl is an expression and display of dana in action. And dana, open handed generosity, holds a special place for each one of us and is at the heart of our community. You are warmly invited to participate in this Sangha day festival with a feast for our hearts and bellies and minds. See you there.
