In Yyoga’s words
Overview Some of the fears, wounds and patterns we live with did not begin with us. The experiences of our parents, grandparents and earlier generations can live on in us, often without our knowing. Trauma, the lasting impact of deeply frightening or painful experiences, can travel through generations. It can shape our personality, the beliefs we hold about ourselves and the world, our core values, and even our physical health. It may show up as a heaviness we have always felt, a fear we cannot trace back to our own life, or a pattern that keeps returning no matter how well we understand it. Addressing this part of our story is increasingly recognised, in clinical therapeutic settings as well as in the holistic field. Spiritual traditions across many cultures have long taught that we are deeply connected to those who came before us. What remained unspoken, unhealed or unfinished in their lives can be passed on to us. Alongside their strength and gifts, we may also inherit their pain. Science is now beginning to explore this connection through epigenetics. Studies suggest that stress and trauma experienced by one generation can influence how genes are expressed in the next. Researchers are starting to open up to what many indigenous traditions have understood for a very long time What Is Shamanic Breathwork? Shamanic breathwork is a conscious breathing practice inspired by ancient healing traditions and designed to support emotional release and spiritual healing. It blends indigenous wisdom with modern psychology, honouring both psychological growth and spiritual experience. At its heart is the understanding that the breath is a doorway into deeper layers of consciousness. We breathe in a full, continuous rhythm, supported by drumming, rattles, music and the voice. Over time, this rhythm quiets the thinking mind and opens a non-ordinary state of consciousness, where we can perceive ourselves and our history in deeper ways.
