Community Giving, Mimosas, and a White Elephant Gift Exchange 🥂

Join us at Half Moon for an afternoon of giving and community at our 3rd annual care package making + white elephant exchange party! We’ll start by assembling care packages with essential items to support our unhoused neighbors, making a tangible impact in the lives of those in need. Afterward, enjoy a lighthearted white elephant gift exchange for those who want to participate. This year we’re partnering with Chicago Burrito Brigade, a volunteer-run grassroots organization that prepares and delivers burritos to hungry Chicagoans. During the ICE raids in Chicago, they began buying tamales and burritos from local street food vendors - so vendors could earn their income for the day and then get home safely instead of staying out on the streets. Burrito Brigade then distributes that food to neighbors in shelters and encampments, and our care packages will go right along with them. White Elephant: If you’d like to participate, please bring a WRAPPED gift of about $25 or less - serious, fun, or funny, whatever you like! Care package items we’re collecting: Essentials Shampoo, conditioner, lotion, and body wash (travel size) Bar soap Chapstick Kleenex/tissues Toothbrushes and toothpaste Cleansing wipes Band-Aids Antiseptic wipes Antibiotic ointment Sunscreen (travel size) Food Items Granola bars Protein bars Small bagged snacks (chips, pretzels, crackers) Clothing Knit hats Gloves Scarves Socks Ponchos Additional Items Bus passes Women’s Care Bags We don’t see as many women, so it’s helpful to have a few separate bags ready for when we do: Tampons Pads Cleansing wipes Moisturizer (travel size) We’ll provide mimosas and non-alcoholic beverages 🥂 This event is open to all, offering a chance to connect, give back, and share in the spirit of the season. We look forward to coming together in support of a good cause and a fun tradition!
