In Yoga Nest Zentrum’s words

What happens when we turn our world upside down? Inversions have a fascinating place in yoga practice. They challenge our relationship with gravity, balance and control, invite us to experience familiar movements from a different perspective, and offer an opportunity to explore the connection between body, breath and mind. While inversions are often associated with strength, flexibility and the ability to perform impressive postures, their place within yoga reaches much further into philosophy, awareness and the subtle experience of practice. In this three-hour workshop, we will explore inversions through both traditional yogic perspectives and a contemporary understanding of movement and the body. We will look at their philosophical significance, the role of breath and attention, and the way these postures can influence our perception of stability, effort, fear and trust. We will also explore two important concepts from the Yoga Sutras of Patañjali: abhyāsa (dedicated, consistent practice) and vairāgya (non-attachment), and how they can shape our relationship with challenging postures, expectations and the process of learning. We will begin with a guided yoga practice, gradually moving into an exploration of selected inverted asanas, their foundations and the biomechanics involved. Through practical exercises, observation and discussion, we will investigate how small changes in positioning, weight distribution and muscular engagement can transform the experience of a posture. An important part of our time together will be dedicated to what happens beyond the physical shape. · How does our attention change when our orientation changes? · What can we learn from the relationship between effort and ease? · How do breath, concentration and our responses to unfamiliar sensations influence the way we practice? “My own fascination with inversions comes from the experience of being in them, noticing how much is happening within the body and mind, and how even the smallest adjustment can change the entire experience. This curiosity has shaped the way I practise and teach, and it is something I look forward to exploring and sharing with you.” - Guka This workshop is for anyone curious about inversions, including yoga practitioners and teachers who would love to deepen their understanding, explore new perspectives or bring fresh inspiration into their practice. You don’t need to be able to stand on your head or balance on your hands to join us. We will work with different variations, giving everyone space to explore at their own pace, ask questions and enjoy the process of learning.
