Mecha is a locally owned studio on Spruce Street in Goss-Grove, where strength-based Pilates sits at the center of the week. Its classes use slow, controlled resistance to build muscle and joint resilience, and the schedule is built around morning practice. Strength-based Pilates and training
Mecha is built around strength. Its RESISTANCE classes use a strength-based Pilates method to build muscular strength, endurance and joint resilience through slow, continuous resistance work. Alongside them, the studio offers STRENGTH classes for progressive training, CARDIO+STRENGTH for low-impact conditioning that stays joint friendly, and a barbell club focused on lifting with precise form.
The studio also teaches a few release classes designed to restore mobility and balance, and a handful of reformer sessions. Most of the schedule is taught by a steady group of facilitators, with Taylor Jones, Raleigh Hutchison and Justin Gray among those leading the most classes.
How the week is shaped
The mornings are where the week gathers. More than half the classes start before noon, and 6am is the earliest start. The busiest start times are 7am, 9am and 10:30am, with a smaller peak at 4pm. Evening classes are fewer, and the latest start is 7pm.
Classes usually run 50 minutes. The shorter sessions, like AMPED and CLIMB, run 25 to 30 minutes, and the barbell and strength sessions run an hour. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday are the busiest days of the week.
Mecha: questions and answers
What kind of classes does Mecha teach?
Mecha's classes are mostly strength-based Pilates, with the RESISTANCE method at the center of the schedule. Strength training, low-impact cardio and a few release and reformer classes sit alongside it, so most of the week is built around building strength through slow, controlled movement.
When do most people practice at Mecha?
Most of the classes are in the morning, and the busiest start times are 7am, 9am and 10:30am, with a fourth peak at 4pm. Morning classes make up more than half of the schedule, and the earliest start is 6am. Some classes also run on weekends.
How long are the classes, and how does booking work?
Most classes run 50 minutes, with strength and barbell sessions going to an hour and the VersaClimber and AMPED cardio sessions running 25 to 30 minutes. Mecha does not sell passes for its classes, so the schedule is organized around memberships and class packs.
Is Mecha a good place for someone new to strength training?
Mecha has a few studios, including the flagship in Goss-Grove at 2546 Spruce St and a North Boulder studio on Glenwood Drive. Its classes cover several kinds of training, from Pilates to strength and cardio, so the mix of styles can help a newcomer decide where to start. Its own website has the current details for each location.
