About The Yoga Projekt

The Yoga Projekt is a small group of studios in Chicago where Pilates and yoga sit side by side. Reformer work, core and pelvic floor classes and hot yoga form the core of the timetable, and there is a steady line of vinyasa, restorative and strength sessions alongside them. Many classes are held in a balcony level studio, with others in a courtyard level studio, so the space you practice in depends on the class you choose.

What the studio teaches

Pilates is the backbone of the schedule here. Core and pelvic floor classes and reformer sessions appear often, from Foundational Reformer through to Advanced Reformer, so you can follow a clear path as you progress. Hot yoga and hot Pilates classes also run regularly, and there are warm Body Barre sessions for those who want a more sculpting practice.

Beyond Pilates, the studio offers vinyasa, Ashtanga, yin and restorative yoga, along with kettlebell and Core Cardio sessions for a more energetic workout. Longevity classes run 75 minutes and suit a slower, longer practice.

How the week runs

The studio's timetable is weighted toward the start of the day. Early classes begin as soon as 5:45am, and the busiest starts cluster around 9am and 10:30am. Evenings bring a second wave, with 5:30pm as a common start time and the last class beginning at 7pm.

Most classes run 60 minutes, which makes it easy to fit a session into a morning or a lunch break. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday see the most classes, and weekends make up about a fifth of the week.

The Yoga Projekt: questions and answers

What kinds of classes does The Yoga Projekt offer?

Yes. The studio runs a broad mix, from Pilates and reformer classes to vinyasa, restorative yoga and kettlebell work. Most classes are Pilates or core and pelvic floor focused, with about a third being reformer and about a third hot yoga. Newer students can look for classes marked as a first class ever.

When do most people practice here?

Most classes run in the morning, with more than half of the week starting before noon. Busy start times include 9am, 10:30am and 5:30pm, and the earliest class begins at 5:45am. Evening classes make up about a third of the schedule, and the last start is at 7pm. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday are the busiest days.

How long are the classes?

Most classes are 60 minutes long. Some run shorter, such as the 45 minute Kettlebell, Core Cardio and Sunrise Pilates sessions, and Longevity runs 75 minutes.

Is it good for beginners?

The studio offers several levels. Classes such as Foundational Reformer, Intermediate Reformer and Advanced Reformer let you build up step by step, and there are classes for people in a first class ever. Restorative Yoga and Restore classes are gentler options.

Who leads the classes?

The classes are taught by a couple of dozen facilitators. Katy, Mollie, Betsy, Jessie, Holly, Samantha, Hanna, Rachel and Julia all lead many classes, and some are taught by rotating facilitators.

Where is the studio?

The studio is at 4450 North Prospect Road in Peoria Heights. Some classes take place in the balcony level studio and others in the courtyard level studio.
