About Evoken Studio

Evoken studio is a pilates space on N Hayworth Avenue in West Hollywood, where the timetable leans heavily toward reformer work. Most classes are pilates, many are taught on the reformer, and the day begins early. Yoga, mat pilates and a few strength classes sit alongside, so you can build a week around one style or mix several.

It suits you if

  • you like reformer work and structured Pilates
  • you prefer to practice in the morning
  • you want mat Pilates or yoga alongside your reformer sessions

What the classes are

Reformer pilates is the center of the timetable. Classes like full body flow, abs and glutes, and energy riser sit on the reformer, and jump-sculpt adds a more dynamic version of the same work. Mat pilates classes, including full body burn, sculpt and abs and glutes, let you keep the pilates focus without the equipment.

Yoga is present but smaller, with vinyasa flow, power flow and reset ritual offered alongside the pilates classes. Restore and ease classes are few, and they are the place to slow down within the studio.

How the week runs

Morning is when the studio is busiest. More than half of the classes start before noon, with 8am, 9am, 10am and 11am the most common start times. Earlier starts from 6am and a small number of evening classes up to 7pm round out the day.

Monday, Wednesday and Friday carry the most classes across the week, and weekend classes are much fewer. Most classes last 50 minutes, so you can plan a session around a standard working day.

Evoken Studio: questions and answers

What kind of classes does evoken studio offer?

Most of the classes at evoken studio are pilates, and the largest share is reformer work. Mat pilates, yoga and a few strength classes fill out the rest of the timetable.

When do most people practice at evoken studio?

Most classes start in the morning, and more than half of the week falls before noon. Busy start times cluster around 8am, 9am, 10am and 11am, and the earliest class starts at 6am. Evening classes run until 7pm, and weekend classes are fewer.

How long are the classes at evoken studio?

Most classes run 50 minutes, with some yoga and restore classes running 60 minutes and jump-sculpt at 45 minutes. Each class is listed with its own description, so you can choose the one that fits your pace.

Which styles should a first-time visitor look at?

Reformer classes are the core of the timetable, and there are several levels of reformer work, from full body flow to elevate, an advanced classical flow. Mat pilates classes like full body burn and abs and glutes offer the same focus without the equipment. Yoga options include vinyasa flow, power flow and reset ritual.

Who leads the classes, and where is the studio?

Evoken studio is in West Hollywood at 1105 N Hayworth Ave. A couple of dozen facilitators lead classes here, with Esther Mira, Chau Phan, Emiko Flanagan and Janina Washington among those who teach the most classes. The studio website is evoken.co.

Is evoken studio a good place for beginners?

Yes, reformer and mat classes are both open to people who are new to pilates, and the timetable lists more than one level. Look for classes marked for all levels or for mat work, and read the description before booking. Experienced classes are few, so they tend to suit people with some practice already behind them.
