What the studio offers
Pilates 80/20 is a Pilates studio, and its week is built around reformer classes, which make up more than half of what is offered. Core and pelvic floor work runs through most sessions, and the classes tend to feel strong rather than gentle. Tower, Cadillac and barrels, and chair classes give the studio a wider range of equipment, and there is a dynamic mat class for those who prefer the floor.
Most classes start in the morning, from 6:30am, and the busiest start times fall between 8am and 11am. Evening classes are fewer, ending the day with a start as late as 7:30pm. Weekend classes are a smaller part of the timetable.
Who leads and who it suits
The classes are taught by a team of about ten facilitators, with Patrice, Katie, Jansyn, Mary and Jane leading the most sessions. There are classes for people in their first Pilates class as well as for people with more experience, and a senior series for those aged 65 and over. A men's only tower class is also part of the schedule.
For a first visit, the intro classes such as 1.0 Intro to Tower Pilates or 1.0 Reformer Fundamentals give a grounding in the equipment before moving to mixed-level work.
