About DOMA Studio

DOMA Studio sits in Midtown Sacramento, at 16th and H, and teaches heated yoga and Pilates in the same warm rooms. Its schedule leans toward strength and flow, with power vinyasa, core work and sculpt classes that build effort into the practice, alongside slower yin and hatha options. Classes run from early mornings to the evening, so the studio fits into a working day.

Heat, strength and flow

DOMA is built around heat and movement. Most of its classes are heated, and the range runs from breath-led vinyasa and power yoga to heated Pilates, core circuits and sculpt sessions that add light weights and music. Yin yoga and a hatha fusion class give a slower counterweight, so the studio offers both a demanding hour and a quieter one.

Classes are typically 60 minutes, with a few shorter 45-minute Pilates core sessions and a few longer 75-minute vinyasa classes. Pilates and core work take up about a third of the schedule, the same share as vinyasa and yoga, which makes the studio a good place to combine the two.

When and with whom to practice

Mornings are a strong part of the week. The earliest class starts at 5:45am, and the busiest start times are 5:45am, 7am, noon and 4:30pm. Evening classes, up to 7:30pm, fill about a third of the timetable. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday carry the most classes, and weekends make up about a fifth of the schedule.

The facilitators, including Brian, Kata, Cassie, Emily and Yvonne, lead a varied range of classes, so it is easy to find a teacher whose style suits you. None of the classes need a pass, which makes it simple to try one.

DOMA Studio: questions and answers

Where is DOMA Studio and what does it teach?

DOMA Studio is a boutique studio at 807 16th Street, in Midtown Sacramento, offering yoga and Pilates. Its classes are listed under the Marin page of the guide, so the schedule here reflects a studio that teaches a wide range of heated and non-heated practices across the week.

What kinds of classes does DOMA offer?

Most of the classes are heated yoga and Pilates, with vinyasa, power yoga, sculpt and core work among the most common. Gentler options such as yin yoga and a hatha fusion class also appear, so people can choose between a demanding heated flow and a slower session.

When do most people practice at DOMA?

The classes start early, with the earliest at 5:45am, and run into the evening, with the latest starting at 7:30pm. Mornings and evenings each take up about a third of the schedule, and the busiest start times are 5:45am, noon, 7am and 4:30pm. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday are the days with the most classes.

How long are the classes?

Most classes run 60 minutes, and a few are 45 or 75 minutes long. The Pilates Core class is a 45-minute circuit, while the heated and power classes usually take a full hour.

Who leads the classes at DOMA?

Brian, Kata, Cassie, Emily, Yvonne, Brandi, Gabi, Vanassa, Erick and Molly lead the most classes. The studio has a couple of dozen facilitators in total, so the group is varied enough to suit different styles and temperaments.

Is DOMA a good place for beginners?

Yes. Several classes are built for those who are new to a practice, and the studio describes itself as welcoming every body and every level. A first class in a gentler style such as yin yoga or a regular vinyasa class is a calm way to begin before trying the heated power sessions.
