Weekend mornings in Maui

Weekend mornings in Maui start early and stay relaxed. Most of the classes fall before noon, and the earliest begin at 6:30am, so you can practice before the day warms up. The mix leans toward yoga and strength, with the Megaformer and Versaclimber sessions in Paia and Wailea standing out alongside vinyasa and flow classes in Makawao, Haiku and Pu驶unene.

What the mornings hold

The weekend mornings lean heavily toward yoga and strength. Vinyasa and power yoga run alongside Megaformer and Versaclimber sessions, so a morning can be a flowing practice or a focused workout depending on what you choose.

Mint Maui Lagree & Versaclimber in Paia and Wailea offers the MEGA 40 and VERSA 30 sessions, with the combined 20/20 class in between. These are high intensity but low impact, and they run about 40 minutes or less.

Where to practice

Paia has the most classes, with Mint Maui in Paia and Maui Yoga and Dance Shala. Wailea and Makawao follow, with Mangala Yoga in Makawao offering Jungle Flow and Lava Flow. Haiku and Pu驶unene have the Blue Mango Yoga studios, and Kihei has Maui Powerhouse Gym.

Because most of the classes are short, you can plan a morning around one studio or move between two in the same day.

Weekend mornings: questions and answers

When do most weekend morning classes start?

Most weekend classes start in the morning. The earliest start is 6:30am and the latest is 10:30am, and the busiest start times are 7:30am, 8am, 8:30am and 9:30am. Nearly all of the weekend classes sit in the morning, and about half begin before 9am.

What kinds of classes are on at weekends?

Yes. Several of the studios here are Mint Maui Lagree & Versaclimber, in Paia and Wailea, where the classes are the 40 minute MEGA sessions on the Megaformer and the 30 minute VERSA sessions on the Versaclimber. The Combo 20/20 class blends both in 45 minutes.

Which kinds of practice are most common?

Yoga is the most common practice, followed by strength and vinyasa. You will also find mobility and stretch, power yoga, yin, hot yoga and gentle or restorative classes, though these are less frequent. Most classes run 40 to 60 minutes, while the Lava Flow class at Mangala Yoga runs 75.

Is there a studio for a gentle start?

Yes. The weekend classes here are offered at Mangala Yoga in Makawao, Blue Mango Yoga in Haiku and Pu驶unene, and Maui Yoga and Dance Shala in Paia, among others. Jungle Flow and Lava Flow at Mangala Yoga, and Vinyasa Yoga at Blue Mango Yoga, are good examples of the flow classes on offer.

Where do the weekend morning classes take place?

The weekend mornings are spread across about ten studios, with the most classes in Paia, Wailea, Makawao, Pu驶unene, Haiku and Kihei. Paia and Wailea both host Mint Maui Lagree & Versaclimber, so you can choose between the two. Dozens of facilitators lead these classes, including Sue Seemann, Brogan Clemson and Morgan Speicher.
