Universal Practice Fitzroy sits at 124 Johnston St in Fitzroy, where its classes are built on physiotherapy. Every class is led by a qualified physiotherapist, so the practice here is closer to clinical movement than to a general studio. Pilates is at the center of the timetable, with reformer work and classes that focus on the core and pelvic floor.

Pilates grounded in physiotherapy
The studio launched in Melbourne in 2016 with a medical model, and its classes reflect that. Most of what you will find is Pilates, with reformer classes making up about a third of the schedule. Core and pelvic floor classes take up about a fifth, and strong classes run alongside them. Classes like Clinical Strength Class and Clinical Class are where the physiotherapy background shows most clearly.
A smaller part of the timetable is set aside for prenatal and postnatal reformer work, including Ante & Post Natal Reformer. These are the kinds of classes many people look for when they are coming back to movement after having a baby or preparing for it.
Morning-heavy timetable
The studio's day begins early. More than half of its classes start before noon, and about a fifth begin before 9am, with the first at 6:15am. Busiest start times are 8am, 10am and 1pm, and the timetable continues into the evening, with the last class starting at 6:30pm. Weekdays carry most of the week, with Monday, Wednesday and Thursday the busiest days. Weekend classes are fewer, about one in ten.
Most classes are an hour long, though reformer work often runs a little shorter at 45 or 50 minutes. Classes are taught in English. The studio does not run a pass system, so each class is booked individually.
