What you practice at body evolution

Pilates is the heart of body evolution. Nearly all of the classes fall under this practice, and reformer is the style you will meet most often. Many sessions are marked all levels, so you can join a class without a long background in movement.

The studio also offers tower classes, including the Open Level Pilates Reformer/ Tower Class and the GYROTONIC® Tower Class. Both run 60 minutes, which gives a full session of work on the apparatus.

How the week runs

Morning is the busiest part of the day here, with about half of the classes starting before noon. Early starts from 7am and a cluster of sessions at 8am, 9am and 11am make the morning a popular window. Midday and evening each hold about a fifth of the schedule, and weekend classes make up a similar share.

Monday, Wednesday and Thursday are the busiest days, so those are good days to check availability ahead of time. Classes start as late as 7pm, so evening practice is available too.

Body Evolution: questions and answers

What kind of classes does body evolution offer?

Most classes at body evolution are pilates, with reformer work the most common style and a good share of the week open to all levels. The schedule includes tower classes too, such as the Open Level Pilates Reformer/ Tower Class and the GYROTONIC® Tower Class.

When do most people practice at body evolution?

Classes start as early as 7am and as late as 7pm, and most of the day falls in the morning. Busy start times include 8am, 9am, 11am and 1pm, and the busiest days are Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Is body evolution a good place to start pilates?

Yes. Many of the classes are marked all levels, and reformer is the style you will see most often, so a first visit can be an open level reformer or tower class. Ask the front desk which class suits your experience before you book.

How long are the classes?

Classes at body evolution typically run 60 minutes. That gives enough time to warm up, work through the reformer or tower, and finish with a few minutes of stretching.

Body Evolution sits at 266 E 10th St in the East Village. The studio is one of a handful of pilates spaces in the neighborhood that run a full week of reformer and tower classes.

Who leads the classes at body evolution?

A couple of dozen facilitators lead classes here. Bob DeNatale, Katerina Petushova, Skye Notary, Giulia Alledi and Kendrick Carter are among those teaching the most classes, so you will find a few familiar faces across the week.
