What the classes are like
The studio's classes are taught mostly on the wall unit, a piece of apparatus that supports and challenges the body through springs and straps. Classes are offered for all levels, for people taking a first class ever, and for more experienced practitioners. Mat classes make up a smaller part of the schedule, and the studio also runs a class aimed specifically at pilates teachers.
The day is spread across the morning, midday and evening, with the busiest starts at 11am, 12:30pm, 6:30pm and 7pm. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday are the fullest days of the week, and about a fifth of classes fall on weekends.
Who teaches and how to book
Centre 5 is run by a team of about ten facilitators, including Maria Zamino, Nirina Josse, Yannick Dhiser and Laurence Barré, who teach the largest share of the classes. Nearly all classes are taught in French, with a few in German. Typical classes last 55 minutes, while some of the mat sessions run for 45.
Nearly all classes accept the Wellpass or ClassPass, which makes it easier to try several classes in a week. Details of the studio's space and visiting process are on its website at centre5.com.
