Styles and rhythm of practice

ether & stone is built around a steady stream of yoga classes. Hatha vinyasa appears in several levels, with hatha vinyasa II and hatha vinyasa III among the example classes. Flow and vinyasa classes sit alongside them, so a regular practice can move from a steady flow to a slower hatha session over the course of a week.

The studio also offers a slower side. Gentle yoga, yin and restore classes give the body time to settle, and calm classes appear with a similar share of the schedule. Meditation is paired with movement in sun & meditation and moon & meditation, which shift the focus toward stillness at the end of the practice.

Times across the week

The day at ether & stone starts early and ends late. Morning classes begin at 8:30am, and classes close the day as late as 7pm. Most people practice in the evening, while a smaller share of classes fall in the morning, and very few start before 9am.

The busiest start times are 8:30am, 11am, 5:30pm and 7pm. Tuesday, Sunday and Monday carry the most classes, so the week has a clear shape for planning a regular practice.

Ether & Stone: questions and answers

What kinds of classes are offered at ether & stone?

Most classes at ether & stone are yoga, with flow, vinyasa and hatha the most common styles on the schedule. Gentle yoga, yin and restorative classes also appear, so there is room for different paces. Meditation and calm classes make up a smaller share.

When do most people practice at ether & stone?

Classes start as early as 8:30am and as late as 7pm. About a third of the classes run in the morning, and more than half fall in the evening. Busier start times cluster around 8:30am, 11am, 5:30pm and 7pm, with Sunday, Monday and Tuesday the busiest days.

Is ether & stone a good place to start?

Gentle yoga, restorative classes and yin are slower and well suited to newer practitioners. Hatha vinyasa classes are offered at more than one level, so a first class can be chosen by how comfortable the body feels with moving. Jes Nunn leads more classes than anyone else on the schedule, so the classes are easy to find under one familiar name.

How long are the classes?

Most classes at ether & stone run for about an hour. Sun & meditation and moon & meditation pair movement with a quieter sitting practice. Calm and gentle classes follow the same length, so the day can be planned around a regular hour.
