How the evenings run
Calm after work is mostly evening practice. Nearly all of the classes in this collection are yoga, and nearly all are described as calm. Around a third lean toward restore, yin and release, so the pace stays slow and the body is supported rather than pushed.
The day starts to thin out around 5:15pm, and the most common start times are 6:30pm and 7pm. Thursday and Friday are the days when most of these classes run, which makes them a natural end to the working week.
Where to start
D'Anahata 3S in Canidelo is one of the studios with the most classes here. Its classes include Ioga e Relaxamento Profundo, which mixes vinyasa breath with the stillness of yoga nidra, and Ioga na Gravidez, a prenatal class designed to support pregnant women through each stage of pregnancy.
ōmlab studio in Lordelo do Ouro e Massarelos offers Flow to Yin, a 60-minute class that joins flowing movement with long, quiet holds. Together the two studios show the range of the collection, from deep rest to a more active way of unwinding.
Calm after work: questions and answers
When do most people practice this collection?
Most of the calm evening classes in this collection fall in the evening, starting from about 5:15pm through to 7pm. The busiest start times are 7pm, 5:15pm and 6:30pm, and Thursday and Friday are the days when most of them run.
Are these classes good for beginners?
Yin and restorative classes ask little of the body and move slowly, which makes them easy to arrive at after a long day. Ioga e Relaxamento Profundo at D'Anahata 3S combines the movement and breath of vinyasa with the depth of yoga nidra, so it can be a gentle way in as well.
Are there classes in English?
Yes. Most of the classes here are taught in Portuguese, and the example classes are described in Portuguese. Ask the studio before booking if you would like English.
Can I use a pass for these classes?
More than half of the classes can be booked with Urban Sports Club or ClassPass, so a pass may cover most of your evenings. Check each studio's booking page for the exact options.
How long are the classes?
Most of the classes run for about an hour. Flow to Yin at ōmlab studio is one example, and it is calm without being slow for its own sake.
Where do these classes happen?
D'Anahata 3S in Canidelo and ōmlab studio in Lordelo do Ouro e Massarelos have the most classes in this collection. Ioga and Ale Ayerbe are the facilitators who appear most often.
