New parents in Prague

Prague's parent classes are mostly yoga, and most of them make room for a baby or small child. The studios sit across several neighborhoods, from Josefov and Vinohrady to Karlín and Smíchov, so you can often find a class close to home. Most start in the morning, and the typical class lasts about 45 minutes, which suits a baby's nap and feeding rhythm.

Where to start: Zen Den Yoga Prague in Vinohrady, Prague Yoga Collective Karlín in Holešovice or Avati in Smíchov

It suits you if

  • you want a class where your baby can join you
  • you prefer morning sessions close to home
  • you are returning to movement after birth

What the classes are

Yoga is the main practice in this collection, and most classes are built around parents with babies or young children. Vinyasa flow appears often, with classes that move through stretchy and strengthening positions and offer modifications for each pose. Some classes lean toward connection and focus, and a smaller number of classes are built for strength.

Pilates is present but less common. Pilates 4U offers a postnatal Pilates course for people who want structured work on their core and strength after birth.

When classes run

Morning is the center of this collection. Most classes start between 9am and 10:30am, and the busiest start times are 9am, 9:30am, 10:30am and 2pm. Midday and early afternoon classes make up a smaller share, and there are no evening or pre-9am classes here.

Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday are the days when the most classes run, so those are good days to look for a session. Most classes last about 45 minutes, with a few longer courses and family sessions running closer to 75 minutes or more.

New parents: questions and answers

Can I bring my baby to class?

Yes. Postnatal and parent-and-baby classes make up most of the schedule here, and many of them are yoga with a baby or small child in the room. Prague Yoga Collective Letná and Prague Yoga Collective Karlín both run vinyasa flow classes where you can bring your baby or kids along, and Avati offers BabYoga courses.

When do most new-parent classes run?

Most classes start in the morning, with the earliest at 9am. Mid-morning starts such as 9:30am and 10:30am are common, and a smaller share of classes run around midday or in the early afternoon, with the latest start at 2pm. Evening classes are not part of this collection.

Which class should I start with after giving birth?

Pilates 4U runs a postnatal Pilates course, which is a good starting point if you want to rebuild strength after birth. Yoga is the main practice in this collection, and the vinyasa flow classes are open to all levels, with modifications given for each pose.

Is there a class for the whole family?

Yes, there is a family yoga class at Prague Yoga Collective Letná, designed for parents, guardians, grandparents and children of all ages. It runs for about 75 minutes, longer than most classes here, which run around 45 minutes.

Are there classes in English?

Most classes here are taught in one of several languages, but several of the studios' names and descriptions appear in English. Check each studio's own information before you book if language matters for you.

Can I use a pass to attend?

A few studios accept ClassPass, so you can try different classes without committing to one studio. Most classes are booked directly with the studio.
