What the mornings are like

The weekend mornings are almost entirely reformer Pilates, taught at Hustle & Flow Queenstown in Frankton. The reformer is a sliding bed with springs and straps, and the classes use it to build control, length and strength through the whole body. Most of the sessions are open to all levels, so a regular practitioner and someone on their first visit can work in the same room.

Classes run about 45 minutes. Each begins with a short overview of the equipment, which helps first-timers understand the machine before they start moving on it. The pace stays calm and attentive, with the focus on fundamental movement rather than speed.

Choosing a start time

Starts range from 8am on the early side to 10am at the latest. Saturday and Sunday are the busiest days, and the most common start times are 10am, 9am and 8am. About a third of the classes begin before 9am, which suits anyone who wants to practice before the rest of the weekend opens up.

If you are new to reformer, the intro class is the gentlest way in. It is designed for beginners and for anyone who needs a refresher, and it lets you learn the setup before joining an open-level session.
