What the studio offers

The schedule leans toward yoga as a practice, with vinyasa and flow classes forming a large share of the timetable. Strength work appears regularly, often combined with yoga in classes that run about 45 minutes. Yin, restore and gentle classes give the week a quieter counterweight.

Heated and hot yoga sit alongside sculpt classes, and several classes are offered at lighter warmth levels, so the room temperature varies from class to class.

How the week is shaped

Morning classes make up about a third of the week, starting as early as 6am. The busiest start times fall around 9am, noon, 4:30pm and 6pm, and the schedule continues until 7:30pm in the evening. Weekends carry about a fifth of the classes.

Most classes last about an hour, and the studio has no pass system listed for its classes, so each class is booked on its own terms.

The Balanced Yogi: questions and answers

What kinds of classes does The Balanced Yogi offer?

Most of the schedule here is yoga, with a steady share of strength work, vinyasa and flow classes, and a smaller group of restore, yin and sound-based sessions. The mix is broad enough that a newcomer can find something at a gentle pace or something with more movement.

When do classes usually run?

Classes start as early as 6am and run into the evening, with the last class starting at 7:30pm. Morning classes make up about a third of the week, and the busiest start times fall around 9am, noon, 4:30pm and 6pm. Weekend classes make up about a fifth of the schedule.

Is it hot yoga, or are the classes heated?

Several classes are offered at different levels of warmth, including warm, lightly warm and hot versions of vinyasa, yin and sculpt. Heated yoga and hot yoga are on the schedule as well, so the temperature of the room is worth checking against the class name before you come.

Are there gentler classes for a slower practice?

Yes. Slow flow, restorative yin and yoga nidra are part of the mix, and a few classes pair movement with sound. A typical class runs about an hour, and a few strength-based sessions run closer to 45 minutes.

Do they have sound or candlelit classes?

Several classes combine practice with sound, including slow flow with sound healing, yin with sound healing, and classes built around gong and bowls. Candlelight vinyasa flow adds a dimmer, quieter feel to the evening schedule.

Who leads the classes?

A couple of dozen facilitators lead classes here, and a group of them teach most often: Stacie D, Alyssa A, Stefania P, Michell F, Lisa B, Alyssa R, Patricia K, Amelia S, Nikki W and Asha K. Their classes cover the full range of styles on the schedule.
