Late night stillness in Stuttgart
In Stuttgart, the evening is when yin and restorative yoga come together. Most classes start after eight, held in a few studios across Rotebühl, Gablenberg and Rosenberg. The pace is slow and the postures are held for a long time, so the practice works well as a way to finish the day rather than a workout to push through.
Where to start: Jivamukti Yoga Stuttgart in Rotebühl, OM Yoga Stuttgart in Rotebühl or NAMOTOYOGA in Rosenberg
It suits you if
- you want to unwind after dark
- you prefer slow, long-held postures
- you are new to yoga and want a gentle start

What these classes feel like
Nearly every class in this collection is yin yoga or restorative yoga, and most are described as calm. Yin asks you to hold postures for several minutes so the body can soften, and that slowness is the point of the practice. Restorative sessions follow the same thread, with support from props and a focus on release. Many classes are labeled for beginners, and a fifth are open to people coming to yoga for the first time.
About a fifth of classes can be booked with one of the passes, including Wellpass, Urban Sports Club, Wellhub and ClassPass, which can make it easier to try several studios.
Where and with whom
Most of the classes are held in Rotebühl, where Jivamukti Yoga Stuttgart and OM Yoga Stuttgart are both located. Gablenberg has Yoga Garden Stuttgart, and Rosenberg has NAMOTOYOGA. Susann Rasper, Martin, Lukas, Anna Mareike and Melanie lead the most classes in this collection, and about ten facilitators teach here in total.
Some classes are taught in German, and the studios are a short walk from the city center, which makes an evening class easy to fit in after work.
