How the weekend mornings run

The collection is built around the late morning. Nearly every class starts on a weekend morning, with 9am and 9:30am giving way to the busier 10am and 10:30am starts. Between them, the classes are mostly yoga, with Vinyasa and Hatha as the most common styles. Barre and Pilates take up a smaller share, and a few hot yoga and Bikram sessions are on the schedule too.

The classes usually last about 75 minutes. Some are shorter, at 50 or 60 minutes, and a few run to 90 minutes or longer. Most are taught in Spanish, with German and English classes making up the rest.

Studios to start with

Club Barre Plaza España in Arrancapins offers barre and Pilates-style classes, and Bikram Hot Yoga Hot Pilates La Finca Roja, also in Arrancapins, runs heated classes. Yogabrú in El Cabanyal-El Canyamelar offers Hatha and yoga, while De Moon Yoga in La Roqueta teaches Vinyasa Flow. Bewell Yoga in Montolivet offers Hatha Dinámico and alignment-based yoga, and Aero Studio Seijaku in Russafa has reformer Pilates classes.

If you prefer a quieter neighborhood studio, THE YOGA BOX in Sant Francesc teaches Vinyasa, and Yoga Lounge in Patraix runs classes that stay close to the basics.

Weekend mornings: questions and answers

When do most weekend morning classes start?

Most of them are on Saturday and Sunday mornings, with the busiest starts around 9am, 9:30am, 10am and 10:30am. The earliest start in this collection is 9am and the latest is 10:30am, so the whole weekend morning is covered without any evening or midday classes.

Are there classes in English?

Yes, though it is a smaller share. Most classes are in Spanish, and a handful are in English. The German-language classes are also a meaningful part of the collection, so it is worth reading the class description before you book.

What kinds of classes are on offer?

Vinyasa and Hatha are the most common styles in this collection, alongside a good deal of plain yoga. Barre and Pilates appear too, with reformer work at Aero Studio Seijaku. Each studio names its class clearly, so you can choose what suits your body and your pace.

Which neighborhoods have the most weekend morning practice?

Several studios are close to each other. Club Barre Plaza España in Arrancapins, Bikram Hot Yoga Hot Pilates La Finca Roja, also in Arrancapins, and Yogabrú in El Cabanyal-El Canyamelar all have a number of morning classes. La Gran Via, La Roqueta and Montolivet are also places where weekend mornings gather.

Can I use a pass for these classes?

A little under a fifth of these classes can be taken with a pass, through Wellhub, ClassPass or Urban Sports Club. Check the studio's own listing for the details, since the pass accepted differs from one studio to another.

How long are the classes and which should I try first?

Typical classes run about 75 minutes, though many are shorter at 50 or 60 minutes and a few longer at 90. If you want something gentle, look for a Hatha or a Yoga class. If you want more movement, look for a Vinyasa or a Barre class.
