About Yoga.Motion

yoga.motion sits in Klosterneuburg, just outside Vienna, and is the studio's home base for a steady week of yoga. The classes lean toward movement and stillness in equal measure: flowing sequences that link breath to posture, and slower yin sessions that work deep into the connective tissue. Most of the week runs in the evening, with mornings and weekend classes filling the rest.

It suits you if

  • you want evening yoga after a full day
  • you want to start with a six-week beginners course
  • you prefer flowing sequences tied to the breath

What practice here feels like

The studio's own website describes a practice that works for people of all levels, whether they are new to yoga or already experienced. Classes focus on flexibility, strength, focus and rest, and the studio also offers live online classes, on-demand videos and retreats for those who want to practice beyond the studio walls.

Flow classes move through sequences that change from one session to the next, working on stability and flexibility while the breath carries the movement. Yin classes hold postures for longer, aimed at the fascia and at a deep sense of release.

How the week is shaped

Most classes take place in the evening, and the busiest starts cluster around 7pm and 5:30pm. Mornings are also well used, with starts from 10am, and weekend classes make up a noticeable share of the timetable. A typical class runs for an hour.

For a first visit, the six-week YOGA ABC course gives a clear structure, and the basic class is designed to explain and repeat the fundamental postures at a pace that suits beginners.

Yoga.Motion: questions and answers

Is it good for beginners?

Yes. Several of the classes are marked for all levels, and there is a six-week beginners course called YOGA ABC that starts on a Wednesday evening. It is a good way to learn the basic postures before joining the flow and yin classes.

When do most people practice here?

The studio runs classes from 10am through 7pm, with most starts in the late afternoon and evening. Mornings are also well represented, and the earliest class begins at 10am, so there is no class before 9am.

Which days are busiest?

Monday, Tuesday and Saturday are the busiest days. Starts cluster around 7pm, 10am, 5:30pm and 11am, so the most popular slots fall in the evening and in the late morning on weekends.

What kinds of classes are offered?

Yoga is the main practice, and nearly all of the classes are yoga. Flow, yin and Restore classes sit alongside the basic class, which teaches the fundamental postures and is open to all levels.

Who leads the classes?

The studio has about ten facilitators. Sandra, Gregor, Birgit, Julia and Marion lead the most classes, and the studio's own website describes the team as part of what makes the space.
