The Stargate sits in the Zuidas district of Amsterdam and treats sound as a practice in its own right. Gong baths, sound baths, breathwork and live performance share the same space, so a visit can feel more like a listening session than a usual studio class. Many evenings are built around the vibrating hammocks, where you lie back and feel the music through your body.
It suits you if

What the classes are
The classes at The Stargate are built around sound. Gong baths and sound baths, led by Shanti, use gongs, crystal singing bowls and Tibetan bowls to create a slow, resonant session. Vibrating hammock nights bring in live performers such as Ruben Gerards and Universal Soundshifts, who blend electronics with ritual and ambient textures.
Alongside these, you will find yoga and aerial classes, along with breathwork led by Liv and a few massage and sound sessions that pair gentle touch with music.
When the classes run
Evenings carry most of the schedule, with about half of the classes taking place after 6pm. Daytime sessions cluster around 1pm, 2pm and 4pm, and the day opens as early as 11am. Thursday, Saturday and Sunday are the busiest days, and weekends make up about a third of the classes.
There are no early morning classes before 9am, so the space suits people who practice after work or on a weekend afternoon.
