About raum.

raum. is a studio in Schöneberg where strength is the center of the timetable. Most classes build lifting, circuits and athletic movement, and the same circuit can run for a whole five-week block so you learn each exercise properly. Several classes are taught in German and Portuguese, and a few in English, with pelvic floor and pregnancy courses alongside.

It suits you if

  • you want structured strength work
  • you are pregnant or have recently given birth
  • you prefer to learn one movement at a time

What the studio teaches

raum. leans toward strength. Most of its classes are built around lifting, circuits and athletic movement, with a smaller set of classes for core and pelvic floor work, and a few gentler or introductory formats. The Bodies in Strength block keeps the same circuit for five weeks, so you can feel how your body responds and build the movements over time.

Alongside the strength work there are courses for runners, a class called PlayStrong that combines strength with coordination and sport-inspired movement, and a self-defense class in karate basics for women and queer people.

When and how classes run

The timetable runs from 8am to 7:30pm. Mornings and evenings each carry about a third of the classes, with fewer at midday and a few before 9am. The busiest days are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, and the most common start times are 10am, 5pm, 5:30pm and 7pm. Weekend classes are rare.

Classes are generally about an hour long, and the facilitators most often seen here are Fe, Sonia and Ale, who lead much of the schedule between them. Classes are taught in German, Portuguese and English, and the studio offers no class passes.

raum.: questions and answers

What kind of classes does raum. teach?

Most of what raum. offers is strength work, with a steady run of classes built around lifting, circuits and athletic movement. Mornings and evenings carry most of the timetable, and the day starts at 8am and ends at 7:30pm.

Are there classes in English?

Yes. Several classes are taught in both German and Portuguese, including the pelvic floor and pregnancy courses. Some of the English-speaking facilitators also lead classes in English.

Are there classes for pregnancy or after birth?

Two classes are written for pregnant people and for people after birth, one with a baby present. The pelvic floor work is open to anyone with a pelvic floor, and the pregnancy course focuses on pelvic floor health, gentle strength and posture.

Is raum. a good place to start if I am new to strength training?

raum. has a few classes described as a first class ever, so a newcomer can start with a clear, beginner-friendly format. Strength-based classes are structured so you can learn one movement at a time across a block.

How long are the classes?

The strength classes run about 50 to 70 minutes, and the pelvic floor and pregnancy courses about an hour. The karate basics class and the trainer booking run a little differently.

Where is raum. and what is the space like?

raum. is in Schöneberg, on Bülowstraße, close to the neighborhood's residential streets and its Kiez life. The studio is a fully equipped space that also hosts personal trainers working with their own clients.
