About Oncore

oncore sits on Clapham Park Road in the Oval area and is built around pilates. Most of its classes are some form of pilates, from reformer and mat work to lagree on the megaformer, and a steady strand of strength and conditioning sessions runs alongside. Many of the classes use infrared heat, so the studio's hot pilates and hot sculpt sessions have their own character.

What the classes are

The core of the timetable is pilates. Reformer classes use a spring resistance apparatus and combine strength, resistance and pilates principles. Mat Pilates builds on the classical series with a more functional movement focus, and the core and pelvic floor classes concentrate on those areas specifically. Lagree on the megaformer is the more demanding option, using slow, controlled movements under constant tension.

Alongside pilates, oncore runs strength classes that focus on form and technique, including a slower-paced session for building confidence with weights and a Saturday session for those who want more of a flow. The SWEAT class is a high-energy conditioning session using the rower, ski erg and floor. Barre sessions set to an upbeat playlist work the legs and seat through ballet-based movement.

When and who

Classes begin as early as 6:10am, and more than half of the timetable falls in the morning. The busiest start times are 7am, 8am and 5:30pm, and Monday, Wednesday and Friday are the busiest days. Weekend classes make up about a fifth of the timetable.

With around a couple of dozen facilitators, the studio has a stable group of regular teachers, and Georgia, Caitlin, Gabriel and Emily C lead among the most classes. Classes run in English, and most last 45 minutes. No passes are needed to book.
