What the classes look like
Black Dog Yoga is a yoga studio first. Nearly every class is yoga, and the variety sits inside that practice. Mixed Level Flow and Basic Flow move with breath, while Yin (Yoga Stretch), Restorative and Gentle Flow and Stretch slow everything down and hold poses longer. About half the classes are labeled all levels, so people with different experience often share the same room.
A smaller part of the timetable is Pilates. Mat Pilates is offered as a 45 minute class, a shorter option beside the hour long yoga sessions. Candlelight Flow gives the evening a quieter feel for those who want a dimmer, more unhurried hour.
How the week runs
Mornings make up about a third of the week, and the earliest class begins at 8:30am. Evenings carry about a fifth of the schedule, with the latest start at 7:15pm. The busiest start times fall at noon, 4:30pm, 6pm and 10:30am, and Wednesday, Thursday and Monday are the days when the most classes run.
Weekend classes make up about a fifth of the timetable, so the studio works for people who practice on Saturday or Sunday as well as on weekdays. Most classes run an hour, which is a steady length to plan a day around.
