What the classes are

Pilates is the whole practice here. Most classes are open to all levels, and the schedule also includes beginner, intermediate and advanced options, along with first class ever sessions for people starting out.

Alongside the core work there are classes built around mobility and stretch, and others focused on strength. Pilates Jump, Pilates Strength and Pilates Stretch each take the same 50 minutes but ask for a different kind of effort.

How the week is shaped

Roughly a fifth of the classes fall on weekends, and the busiest days of the week are Thursday, Monday and Friday. The earliest class starts at 6:30am and the latest at 8pm, so the studio works around both early and late schedules.

The studio is run by about ten facilitators, and a handful of them lead most of the classes, including Jess Davidson, Talin Titizian and Amanda MacLeod. Booking goes directly with the studio, and there are no passes to choose from.

Wild Hare Pilates: questions and answers

Are there classes in English?

Most classes at wild hare pilates are taught in english, and the schedule is built around pilates in its several forms. The studio's own site lists the classes and levels, so it is worth a look before you book.

Is it good for beginners?

Yes. Pilates (All Levels) is the most common class, and there are also beginner, intermediate and intro options. Pilates Free Orientation runs for 30 minutes, which gives a first visit a gentle introduction to the studio before you commit to a full class.

When do most people practice here?

Most classes start before 9am, and early mornings are when the studio is busiest. Mornings in general carry more than half of the week, with the 8:30am and 10:30am starts drawing the most people. Evening classes, around 5pm and 6pm, are the other busy window.

Where is the studio, and how long are the classes?

Lake Balboa is the neighborhood. The studio is at 7900 Balboa Blvd, Suite 106, and most of its classes run 50 minutes, which leaves room to arrive and settle before class starts.

Which classes are calmer and which ask more?

Pilates Stretch and the mobility classes slow the pace and focus on range of motion. Pilates Strength and Pilates Jump are more demanding, so choose by how you want to feel after class rather than by level alone.
