Late night stillness in Lyon
Late night stillness is a small set of slow, restoring classes in Lyon that begin after eight in the evening. Nearly every class in this collection falls in the evening, so the practice fits the end of a working day rather than the start of one. The classes lean toward yin, restorative and gentle yoga, with a few sound baths and gong sessions in the mix.
Where to start: Feel Gong, Fauves Yoga Lyon in Saint-Georges or Cocon Yoga in Les Girondins
It suits you if
- you finish work late
- you prefer slow, held postures
- you want sound and stillness together

What the practice feels like
Most of these classes are yoga, with yin and restorative styles appearing most often. Yin holds each posture for several minutes so the deeper tissues can soften, while restorative classes use props to support the body fully. Both are quiet, and the calm they aim for is the main thread running through the collection.
A smaller group of classes moves into sound. Feel Gong offers sound baths and gong sessions, some of them two hours long, where you lie down and listen. These tend to be the longest sessions here, so they suit an evening with room to spare.
Where and when to practice
Fauves Yoga Lyon in Saint-Georges, Cocon Yoga in Les Girondins and Yogama in Gros Caillou are the studios where most of these classes take place, and Feel Gong offers the sound-based sessions. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday hold the most classes, and most begin between 8pm and 8:30pm.
If you are new to this kind of practice, a one-hour yin or restorative class is a gentle place to start. Most classes are in French, so check the language before you book.
Late night stillness: questions and answers
When do these classes start?

Are the classes in English?
Most are taught in French, and nearly all are in that language. A small share of classes are in German, so it is worth checking the language on the studio's page before you book.
What kinds of classes are on offer?
Yin and restorative classes are the most common styles here, each showing up in about a third of the classes. A class like Yin ou Restauratif at Cocon Yoga is a slow, held-posture practice that suits an evening wind-down.
Which studios and neighborhoods are these classes in?

Most classes run for about an hour, but some, like the sessions at Feel Gong, last two hours. The shorter classes, such as Yoga yin yang at Fauves Yoga Lyon, are around 55 minutes.
Can I pay with a pass?
Most of these classes can be booked without a pass. About a fifth of them accept the Wellpass, so check each studio's booking options before you go.
