Where and how the studio practices

Indigo Yoga Studio sits in the Palos Verdes Mall in Walnut Creek, with its suites A and B at 1512 Palos Verdes Mall. The space is part of a busy shopping area, so it is easy to reach for a practice before or after a day in the neighborhood. Most of the schedule is built around morning and midday slots, with evening classes adding a second rhythm to the week.

The studio's classes are led by a couple of dozen facilitators, and Kelly Callahan, Lisa Pickup, Michele Gunnett, Anina Hutchison and Caleb Neeper are among those teaching the most. Jessica Frost, Jennifer Shaw, Janine Ellis, Amy Marcus and Deborah Caldeira also lead a good share of the timetable.

The practices and what they feel like

Yoga is the core of what Indigo offers, and the list spans Kundalini, Hatha, Yin, Vinyasa, Jivamukti and Power Flow. Gentle and calm classes make up a good part of the week, with restorative and flexibility-focused sessions for people who want slower movement. Strong and flow classes are there for those who want more effort.

Some sessions go beyond movement, with meditation, chanting, gong and bowls, and a sound bath. Prenatal classes and a few core and pelvic floor offerings round out the range, so the studio can meet several different needs in one place.
