About Walnut Creek

Walnut Creek is a studio in the East Bay, a short distance from the rest of San Francisco, where practice starts early and centers on strength. Most of its classes are built around the body, with names like BUNS & GUNS, SIX PACKS & BACKS and POWER Sculpt, and the rhythm of the week leans toward the morning. It is a place to practice before the day begins.

What the classes focus on

The studio's timetable is shaped by its strength work. Strength is the most common kind of class, and strong and flow sessions make up much of the rest. Classes such as BUNS & GUNS, SIX PACKS & BACKS, OBLIQUES & CHEEKS and SCULPT & JUMP are named for the part of the body they work, so the schedule reads clearly for anyone choosing a first session.

Flow classes appear alongside the strength work, giving a slower or more fluid option within the same week. POWER Sculpt and ROK YOUR BODY are among the names that come up often in the studio's lineup.

How the week runs

More than half of the classes start in the morning, and about a third begin before 9am. The earliest class starts at 5:30am, and the busiest start times are 6:30am, 7:30am, 11:30am and 4:30pm. Midday is comparatively quiet, and the evening schedule runs until 7:30pm.

Because most classes run about 45 minutes, the morning schedule suits people who want to practice before work. Weekend classes make up about a fifth of the timetable, and the studio's busiest days are Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.
