Sunday sound in Marseille

Sound baths in Marseille gather mostly on Sundays, and most of them are held in the evening or at weekends. The sessions sit alongside yin and restore classes, so the hour is slow and sensory: lying down, listening, letting the sound do the work. Most people practice here after a busy week, and a good number of the sessions are set in the Le Camas and Palais de Justice neighborhoods.

Where to start: Muse – Studio de Pilates, Reformer & Yoga à Marseille in Le Camas, Bloom Yoga Studio in Palais de Justice or Shakti Shala in Palais de Justice

It suits you if

  • you want a slow hour lying down
  • weekends are the time you have to practice
  • you prefer restore classes to vigorous ones

What the sessions are like

The collection is small, about ten sessions, spread across a handful of studios. Nearly every class is a sound bath, and most are also yoga, often in a yin style that holds poses for longer and keeps the body still. A smaller share are yoga nidra, a guided lying-down practice that works with the same slow pace.

Most sessions last around an hour. The longer ones stretch to ninety minutes or more, which suits people who want more time to settle before and after the sound.

Where and with whom

Muse, Studio de Pilates, Reformer & Yoga à Marseille, in the Le Camas neighborhood, offers a yin yoga and sound bath session that runs an hour. Bloom Yoga Studio, in Palais de Justice, offers a longer voyage sonore that combines sound with yoga nidra over ninety minutes. Shakti Shala, also in Palais de Justice, has a sound bath that runs about seventy-five minutes.

The facilitators who lead the most sessions are Chloé Perrin, Noémie Sauvage, Juliette Vincent and Julia Avenal, so you will find a few familiar names if you return.

Nearly all of the sessions fall at weekends, and the rest sit in the evening. Mornings are less common, and there are no midday or pre-9am starts in this collection.

Which studios run sound baths in Marseille?

Muse, Studio de Pilates, Reformer & Yoga à Marseille, in Le Camas, has a yin yoga session with a sound bath. Bloom Yoga Studio and Shakti Shala, both in the Palais de Justice neighborhood, each offer sound sessions too. Bloom's includes Yoga Nidra in a ninety-minute format.

How long is a sound bath class?

Most sessions run about an hour, though some go longer. The classes mostly sit under the restore and yin umbrellas, so expect slow pacing, lying down and a quiet, sensory hour rather than movement.
