In Happy Melon Studios Willis St’s words
Happy Melon Yin is a restorative and meditative practice that nurtures the body and deepens mental and physical strength. The practice does indeed restore but is not a restorative practice. Props are used to support a deeper experience, relaxing us into the pose so that within the discomfort of release, we use our mental capacity to find our edge and allow the body to move to its natural range of motion, freeing the tissue and the joint. Yin yoga exercises the joints, joint tissues, and deep fascia. It promotes hydration and optimal fluid function within and around the joints by creating traction or compression over the targeted area. The soft tissue elongates, changes, and gets deeply hydrated, promoting overall health. Yin poses are designed to create long, slow traction on the joint tissue that a specific pose is targeting. When applying traction, the joint tissue is being exercised and stimulated. When we free the area from stagnation, water, energy, and nutrition can flow more freely through the area and around the body, creating a healthier environment from the inside (hahah yin side). Yin yoga connects us deeply on all levels: physical, energetic, and mental. Yin yoga is a deep and powerful practice that creates space in your body. Happy Melon Yin is practiced at a comfortable room temperature around 23 Degrees.
