Most of the classes are yoga, and the rest are pilates and strength work built around the core and pelvic floor. What the studio practices

The studio is built around yoga, with more than half of its classes in one form or another. Hot yoga is the most distinctive thread, appearing in both heated and non-heated versions, including Bikram, Hot Power Flow and Super Power Hot Yoga. Power flow and power yoga give the schedule its strong, sweaty pace.

Alongside the yoga, the studio runs pilates and strength classes, including a sculpt pilates class that focuses on the core and pelvic floor. These classes sit well next to the hot yoga for anyone who wants to balance intensity with more targeted work.

The shape of the week

Most of the week's classes start early. More than half of the schedule begins in the morning, and the earliest starts are at 7am, with the busiest start times at 8:30am and 9:30am. Classes run into the evening, with the latest starts at 7:30pm, and the studio does not run classes at midday. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday tend to be the busiest days.

Most classes run about 75 minutes, with the pilates and sculpt classes closer to an hour. A visit before work fits the schedule well, since the early classes are the core of what this studio offers.

yogamakesme: questions and answers

What kind of classes does yogamakes me offer?

Most of the classes here are yoga, and more than half of the schedule is yoga in one form or another. A good share of it is hot yoga, heated or not, plus power flow, and a smaller share is pilates and strength work. The mix is wide enough that a newcomer can find a slower, steadier class or a faster one.

Is it good for beginners?

Yes. A good number of the classes are marked all levels, and about a fifth of the schedule is open to everyone. The hot classes and the power flows ask more of the body, so a first visit might begin with an all levels class, or with pilates for the core and pelvic floor.

When do most people practice here?

Most classes start early in the day. More than half of the schedule falls in the morning, and about a third starts before 9am, with the busiest starts at 8:30am and 9:30am. Evening classes run until 7:30pm, and there are no midday classes.

What should I know about hot yoga?

Hot yoga is one of the more common styles on the schedule, with about half of the classes heated or non-heated hot yoga. Bikram and the other heated classes run in a warm room, so it helps to arrive with water and a towel and to plan for a warm, sweaty practice.

How long are the classes?

Classes usually run about 75 minutes, with the pilates and sculpt classes closer to an hour. The schedule is built around shorter, steady sessions that fit before work or after a day in the city.

Who leads the classes?

Dr. Anne Julia Hagen, Anna Zakirova, Gracie Delarosa, Skyler Deluise and Marina Filgueiras all lead a good number of classes here, and the team of facilitators is about two dozen people. Each brings a slightly different approach, so it is worth trying a few to find the one that suits you.
