About BASI Pilates Studio Freising

BASI Pilates Studio Freising is a Pilates studio in Freising, just outside Munich, at General-von-Nagel-Straße 18. The classes are built around the reformer, a sliding bed with springs and straps, and mat work that follows the BASI principles. Most classes run for 55 minutes and are open to all levels, so the studio suits both people who are new to Pilates and those who have practiced for years.

What the classes are

The studio's timetable is mostly Pilates, with the reformer as the main format. Classes named after the body area they work on, such as core, back, hips and neck and shoulders, sit alongside those with a particular feel, like the strong and high-intensity classes. A cardio-style reformer class uses a jumpboard for interval work, and a power class adds weights and bands.

For a first visit, the all-levels reformer classes and the mat Pilates class are a good place to begin. The studio also runs a morning class called Der Frühe Vogel kann Pilates for those who want to start the day gently.

When and how often to practice

Classes start early in the morning and run into the evening. Mornings and evenings each take about a third of the timetable, with a midday class in the lunch break for those who want to move between work and home. The busiest days are Monday, Thursday and Friday, and the most common start times are noon, 8am, 11am and 6pm.

Classes run on weekdays most of the time, with only a small share on weekends. Most sessions last 55 minutes.

BASI Pilates Studio Freising: questions and answers

When do most people practice here?

BASI Pilates Studio Freising has a good number of classes across the week, so most people find a time that fits. Classes start as early as 7am and run until 7:30pm. Mornings and evenings each hold about a third of the timetable, and midday classes make up about a fifth.

Is it good for beginners?

Yes. Several classes are listed as suitable for all levels, including the reformer classes and the mat Pilates class. Krisztina and Rebecca lead the largest share of the classes, and the studio also offers a first class for people new to Pilates.

What kinds of Pilates classes are on offer?

Nearly all of the classes are Pilates. The reformer is the most common format, followed by mat Pilates and a range of classes that use props such as the Spine Corrector, the Pilates Ring, small weights and resistance bands. Some classes focus on strength, the core and pelvic floor, balance or the back.

Are there classes for pregnancy or for children?

Yes, the studio runs classes for people who are pregnant and for the postnatal period, as well as a few classes for teens and kids. The classes that have a set focus include a Pilates class for pregnant people.
