Yoga and Pilates at the studio
Yoga is the main practice here, and about half of the classes are yoga. Yoga Essential, Yoga flow and Yin Yoga are taught in English, each around an hour long. Yin is a slower style with longer holds, and it sits alongside a few restorative classes that focus on rest and calm. Vinyasa and Ashtanga appear less often, so they are a good choice if you already know what you enjoy.
Pilates is the second strand. Mat Pilates and themed mat sessions run for about fifty minutes, and there are Reformer and Chair Pilates classes, including small groups of two or a few people. Core and pelvic floor classes sit within this strand for people who want targeted work.
When classes run
The studio's first class is at 7am, and more than half of its classes fall in the morning. The busiest start times are 7am and 7pm, and Monday, Wednesday and Friday are the days when the timetable is fullest. Around a fifth of classes run at weekends, so weekend mornings are also an option.
About a third of classes are in the evening, with the latest start at 8:15pm. Midday classes are fewer, with a busy start around 11:40am and 1pm. Most classes last an hour, and a few Pilates sessions are fifty minutes.
Who leads the classes
Forest studio has about ten facilitators. Irene Yuen, Effie Shi, Sherry Bao, Julia Li, Cindy Yee, Jing Qian and Cathy Chan lead the largest number of classes. Because the studio teaches in both English and Mandarin, you can find a facilitator whose teaching suits the language you prefer.
