Flow Buchholz sits in Buchholz in der Nordheide, a little outside Hamburg, and its practice is quiet and steady. Yin Yoga gives the week its shape, with slow positions held for a long time and a sense of letting go. Alongside it there are Vinyasa and Hatha classes, the Elemente Flow series, and prenatal and postnatal yoga. Most of the week is evening practice.

A studio built around evening practice
Flow Buchholz describes itself as a place for mindful, creative and joyful practice. Its own website lists prevention yoga courses that are certified as health courses, along with Yin Yoga, Vinyasa Flow, Hatha Yoga and yoga during and after pregnancy. Alongside the yoga there are workshops, meditation, prana healing and coaching, so the studio offers more than classes alone.
The main rhythm is evening practice. Most classes take place between 6pm and 7:45pm, and the studio sits quietly in that window rather than across the whole day. Weekend classes are very few, and mornings and lunchtimes are not part of the schedule.
Yin Yoga and gentle styles
Yin Yoga is the thread that runs through most of the timetable. Its classes move at a very slow pace, with positions held for a long time and the body asked to soften rather than work. The Yin Yoga for women class adds gentle pelvic floor and core work to that quiet practice. Yin and Yoga Nidra, the longest class at 90 minutes, ends with a guided body scan and deep relaxation.
Elemente Flow is a Vinyasa series in which each class takes its quality from a different element, and it moves with more dynamic and regenerating parts in the same hour. Hatha Flow slows the Hatha style down, with long stays in each position and a quiet close.
Who leads and who it suits
Erika Billings and Chris Billings lead the most classes, and the studio is run by a small team, so teachers and students tend to know one another over time. Classes are labeled across all levels, and a smaller group are first classes for people new to yoga. The Elemente Flow advanced course is for people with some previous practice.
Because the studio runs a set of prevention courses, several classes require booking a place in advance. The timetable is also open to people who are pregnant or have recently given birth, with classes written for those stages.
