When the mornings begin

Nearly all of the weekend classes in this collection happen in the morning, and about a third begin before 9am. The earliest start is 7am and the latest is 10:45am, so there is room for a practice early or after a relaxed breakfast.

Most classes run about an hour, and a few run ninety minutes. Many studios cluster their weekend schedules around 8am to 10am, which makes it easy to plan a practice around the rest of your morning.

What the mornings feel like

Strong classes lead the list, followed by yoga and Pilates. Core and pelvic floor work, reformer, vinyasa, flow and strength also appear regularly. Hot yoga, power yoga, infrared sessions and yin turn up in smaller numbers, so the weekend has more variety than the number of styles might suggest.

If you want something quieter, look for gentle, restore or restorative classes, or a session held in silence. Facilitators such as Molly Turner, Megan Williams and Holly Hust lead some of the most frequent weekend sessions, and dozens of facilitators appear across the collection.

Weekend mornings: questions and answers

How long are the weekend morning classes?

Yes. Most of the weekend mornings on this page are sixty-minute classes, with some running ninety minutes, so there is room to choose a shorter or longer practice.

What time do weekend morning classes start?

Most weekend classes start between 8am and 10am, with the busiest start times at 8am, 9am, 9:30am and 10am. Some begin as early as 7am and the latest start is 10:45am.

Are these classes good for beginners?

A fair number of the classes are marked for all levels or for first-time students, so a first weekend morning class is usually easy to find. Strong and flow classes make up a large share of the list, so if you are new, look for the all-levels and gentle options.

What kinds of classes are offered on weekend mornings?

Strong classes are the most common, followed by yoga and Pilates, with core and pelvic floor work close behind. Reformer, vinyasa, flow and strength appear regularly, and hot yoga and power yoga show up in a smaller number of studios.

Which studios can I try on a Saturday or Sunday morning?

Selfish Pilates in Carmichael offers a multi-level reformer class, and Radiant Yoga and Palisades Yoga both run vinyasa-style practices. Lotus Garden Meditation Center and Yoga Studio offers slow flow hatha for all levels, and Mountain Lotus Yoga in Sunnyside-Tahoe City runs hot vinyasa.

The weekend mornings are spread across a number of neighborhoods, with Sunnyside-Tahoe City, Incline Village, South Lake Tahoe, Kings Beach, Tahoe Vista and Carson City having the most classes. Dozens of facilitators lead them, so you can choose a teacher whose style suits you.
