What the heat classes are
Hot yoga here means postures practiced in a room kept at a high temperature, with the sequence built to move the whole body. The classes sit within yoga as a practice, and nearly all of them carry that style. Infrared appears in the collection too, so the warmth comes from a different source in some sessions, but the emphasis on sustained heat stays the same.
The classes are spread between mornings and evenings. Start times begin at 10:30am and run as late as 7pm, with no midday or early-before-9am sessions. Most people practice on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, and weekends are quiet by comparison.
Where and with whom
108 Yoga in Alejandría carries most of the collection, and its hot sessions run about an hour each. Two of its classes show the range: Hot Yoga, a sequence done in a warmed room to work the body, mind and emotions together, and Hot Básico, a basic full-body sequence suited to beginners that also helps the mind settle.
The facilitators Tata Gallego, Ligia Peñarredonda and Mariana Fuentes lead the most classes across the collection, so a session with any of them gives a sense of how the heat is held from one week to the next.
