Mat and equipment classes

Mat classes focus on general core strength and spinal mobility. They use small apparatus such as swiss balls, foam rollers and resistance bands, and the group is kept to five people, so the facilitator can see each body moving.

Equipment classes hold up to four people and use the Pilates reformer alongside other apparatus. Each participant works through individually prescribed exercises that reflect their own goals, so two people in the same class may be doing quite different work.

How the week runs

Most classes begin before noon. About a third start before 9am, and the busiest start times are 7am, 8am, 9am and 10am. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday hold the most sessions across the week, and there are no weekend classes. Evening classes are fewer, with about one in ten starting in the evening and the latest start at 5:30pm.

Classes run around 55 minutes, which leaves time to settle in before and to move on after. Caroline Hayes, Stephen Kerr and Esha Shetty teach the most sessions here.
