About BÅL Studios

BÅL Studios sits on Schmidgasse in the Josefstadt district of Vienna and is built around strength. Most of its classes are slow, controlled sessions of about 50 minutes that work the whole body, with a particular focus on the back, glutes and core. The studio teaches on reformer equipment and offers a handful of Pilates and balance classes alongside its main format.

It suits you if

  • you want slow, controlled strength work
  • you prefer early morning sessions before the day begins
  • you want a full-body workout on the reformer

What the classes are

Most classes at BÅL Studios are strength sessions. Full Body Burner is a high-intensity but low-impact class that moves through the major muscle groups in one continuous sequence. The Sculpt50 series narrows the focus to the back and outer glutes, the glutes and arms, the posture and glutes, or the glutes, hamstrings and core, using slow resistance, long holds and controlled tempo.

A smaller group of classes sits outside the main format. Some are labeled core and pelvic floor, balance, or reformer Pilates, and a few are open to all levels. The Music Takeover sessions are full-body classes on the Megacore reformer that combine slow movement with balance and strength work.

How the week runs

Classes run across the whole day, with about half starting in the morning and about a fifth before 9am. Early sunrise editions of Full Body Burner help people fit a session in before work. Evening classes make up about a third of the timetable, with the most common evening start at 5:20pm. Weekends account for about a fifth of classes.

Most classes last 50 minutes. Facilitators include Steffi, Eli, MJ, Manuel, Nicole, Alex, Leonie, Lucy, Natalia and Anna J, several of whom lead classes in English or Russian. Classes are booked directly with the studio, and none of them are offered on a pass.
