What the studio teaches
Root Reform builds its classes around the reformer. The Reformer Beginner class introduces the classic Pilates method, which Joseph Pilates developed in the 1920s and first called contrology. Alongside it, Root & Sculpt and Burn & Balance combine traditional Pilates principles with light strength work and more flowing movement, and Jumpboard adds rhythmic jumps for cardio and power while keeping the controlled work of Pilates.
Most classes last 50 minutes. Core and pelvic floor work and the reformer appear in more than half of what the studio offers, while strength and a stronger, more energetic pace make up a smaller share.
How the week runs
The studio's week is weighted toward the evening, when most of its classes start, with the busiest times falling between 5pm and 8pm. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday are the days when the most classes run. Mornings have a few classes, starting at 11am at the earliest, and there is little on at weekends.
As a small studio in Langenfeld, Root Reform works with a handful of facilitators, with Evelyn and Gina leading the most classes. Payment passes are not part of how classes are taken here.
