About The Space Yoga Studio

The Space Yoga Studio sits at 525 East Acequia Avenue in Visalia, and it leans hard into heat. Most of its classes are hot yoga, with a steady run of hot pilates, hot vinyasa and sculpting sessions that start early in the morning and continue into the evening. Unheated flow and all-levels yoga sit alongside them, so the room temperature shifts from one class to the next.

It suits you if

  • you like hot classes that start early
  • you want sweat and core work in one hour

What the studio teaches

The studio offers well over a hundred classes across a few weeks, and most of them are hot. Hot yoga is the style most people choose, with hot pilates, hot power, hot vinyasa and hot sculpt all built around the same heated room. About a third of the schedule is pilates, and about a third focuses on the core and pelvic floor. Strength and flexibility appear less often.

The unheated side of the schedule is smaller but real. Flow for all levels, yoga all levels and aerial yoga all levels give people a way to practice without heat, and the candlelit hot yin and the yin classes offer slower, more inward hours.

The shape of the week

Classes begin as early as 5am, and more than half of the schedule is in the morning. The most popular start times are 7am and 9:30am, and the afternoon and evening pick up again at 4:30pm and 6pm. Weekends make up about a third of the classes. Sunday, Monday and Friday are the busiest days, and most classes last an hour.

The studio has a couple of dozen facilitators. Jessica Wright-Bree and Kristen McQuaide lead a good number of classes, and the team also includes Alena Stewart-Gutierrez, Hannah Boland, Liz Gund, Rasheed Slusher, Elisa Navarro, Kristina Koster and Brie Lopez.

The Space Yoga Studio: questions and answers

What kind of classes does The Space Yoga Studio teach?

Most of the classes here are hot yoga, and sweat is the feeling most of them aim for. Hot Pilates, hot vinyasa and hot power sit alongside a set of unheated classes, including flow and yoga for all levels, so the room temperature varies by class.

When do most people practice here?

Classes start as early as 5am, and more than half of the schedule falls in the morning. A little over a fifth starts before 9am. The busiest start times are 7am and 9:30am, with a second cluster at 4:30pm and 6pm. Sunday, Monday and Friday are the busiest days.

Is there something for beginners?

Yes, though the studio is especially built around hot classes. Flow for all levels and yoga all levels are unheated, and the mixed-levels and all-levels classes are listed alongside the heated ones, so there is a range to choose from.

How long are the classes?

Most classes run about an hour. The longest common format is the hot class, and a few options like aerial yoga all levels also keep to that length.

What should I try if I want something slower?

Candlelit hot yin, with its slower pace and dim room, is one of the studio's quieter options. Aerial yoga, which uses suspended silks, is a different way to move through the same kind of hour. Yin and calm classes make up about one in ten.
