About Downtown Vancouver

Downtown Vancouver is a studio at 1011 Broadway Street in Vancouver, and its schedule leans toward strength. Most of its classes are built around muscle work, core and mobility, with yoga and stretch sessions woven in. The day is spread between mornings and midday, so people who train before or during the working day tend to find a place here.

It suits you if

  • you want structured strength training
  • you train in the morning or at midday

What the classes are

The studio's classes are mostly strength and strong sessions, each taking about a third of the schedule. Mobility and stretch come next, followed by yoga and core and pelvic floor work. Full Body Muscle and Booty and Core Burn are hour-long strength classes, while Cardio, Core and Mobility is a shorter forty-minute option.

Yoga Stretch and Yoga give a slower counterpoint to the strength work and suit people who want to balance their training with mobility.

How the week runs

Classes start as early as 9am and run through the day, with the latest starting at 5:30pm. Midday and morning share the largest portion of the week, and the evening accounts for about a fifth of classes. Weekend classes are a small part of the timetable.

Across the week, Friday, Tuesday and Thursday carry the most classes. Most sessions run for an hour, which makes it easy to fit a practice into a lunch break or before the working day.

Downtown Vancouver: questions and answers

What kinds of classes does Downtown Vancouver offer?

Most classes here are strength and strong sessions, with mobility, stretch and yoga making up the rest. Strength is the largest group, and classes like Full Body Muscle and Pure Strength run alongside gentler yoga stretch.

When do most people practice here?

The day is split fairly evenly between morning and midday, with a smaller share in the evening. Starts begin at 9am and run until 5:30pm, and 9am, noon and 5:30pm are the times that come up most often.

Are there classes on weekends?

Weekend classes are a small part of the schedule, roughly one in ten. Friday, Tuesday and Thursday are the days with the most classes.

Is there yoga here?

Yes. Yoga is one of the practices offered, and Yoga Stretch is a sixty-minute class that combines yoga with stretching. Yoga and mobility work make up a smaller portion of the schedule than strength does.

How long are the classes, and who leads them?

Most classes run about an hour, and some strength sessions like Pure Strength are shorter at forty minutes. Facilitators such as Marcia Goncalves, Brianna McMillan and Nick Medlock lead many of the classes.
